The story of the Chickasaw Hatchet Women served to inspire the many generations that followed them. As a contemporary Chickasaw artist I look to our history to guide me. This ring, with it’s subtle sun disk detailing, is designed to balance and focus the wearer in order to follow their chosen direction.

This ring is cast in sterling silver and set with your choice of gemstone. The details are accented with an antique finish.

The Hatchet Women ~ Indigenous Resistance since 1736

During the French Indian Wars of the 1730s, villages in our southeastern homelands were under attack by French Soldiers looking to take our resources and harm our people. However, they were stopped by Chickasaw women. Armed with hatchets and skilled in combat, these unconquerable women forced the French to retreat.
